Ekstremt flot vintage portvin i årgang 1970 fra altid stilsikre Graham. Klassisk årgang der er moden nu men har mange år i sig endnu.
Labels er svingende i udseende. Portvinen er fra et stort parti der alle har været fantastiske - stærk pris pga labels udseende.
For the Port of Love med Roy Hersh: "As soon as the bottle was opened, I knew this was a winner. That initial whiff told me all I needed to know. Initially, the sweet candied and floral notes took hold as I decanted the wine, but I knew there was a lot more to this one. I decanted this longer than I had expected to, as the regular part of our tasting stretched out (as guests were in no rush) so that we could take our time with every single bottle on the table. I was very much looking forward to drinking this wine and would have been glad to start the evening off with it. By the time we started to drink this 1970, the Graham's was really humming. There was a beautiful and crystal clear crimson color to this wine, with just slight bricking on the rim, which provided the only sign of age in this wine. My guests all believed this was either a 1994 or 1997. It was a very youthful 35 year old bottle of Vintage Port and in splendid condition. This Port is nearing its peak and I don't see it performing much better than this in the future ... just more evolved with tertiary, rather then secondary nuances. The nose blossomed in the glass and was offering cinnamon spice, licorice, plum and blueberry followed by a touch of spirit. I did not find the spirit distracting whatsoever on the palate or finish ... any more than other top Graham's Vintage Ports I've had. It was well integrated and provided a slightly high-toned note, but it was quite mild to me. There was just the right amount of acidity to keep the sweet fruit in check here and the full-body of this wine led to a smooth palate presence and an elaborate mid-palate. The tannins were mostly resolved, yet still showed up on the multifaceted finish. This has long been one of my very favorite Graham vintages along with the legendary 1948 and superb 1963 (which I last opened in October 2004)."

De bedste Graham's vintage port kan gemmes i over 50 år.
Graham's opstod ved et tilfælde som portvinshus i 1820. Selskabet havde indtil da alene handlet med tekstilvarer, men eftersom en kunde ikke kunne betale sin gæld til selskabets afdeling i Porto, modtog man i stedet 27 piber (fade) portvin som betaling. Portvinen blev imidlertid solgt med stor succes og Graham's fik hurtigt opbygget et godt ry indenfor portvin.
Graham's er i dag ejet af Symington Gruppen og en sjov del af den historie er, at de nuværende ejeres bedstefar, den unge skotte, Andrew James Symington, i 1882 og et par år frem var ansat hos Graham's.
Vinmarkerne på Quinta dos Malvedos udgør i dag grundstenen i Graham's vintage port, der i de bedste årgange kan udvikle sig i over halvtreds år. Selv i ikke-deklarerede vintage år laver Quinta dos Malvedos nogle forrygende vintage portvine, som generelt er noget blødere og mere frugtrige som unge og derfor udvikler sig hurtigere.
